In recent years, the world has become increasingly complex and subject to rapid change. Such developments create challenges but also present opportunities. Over the next five years, the EU will focus on playing a more leading role in this changing environment. Accordingly, in June 2019 the European Council agreed on a new EU Strategic Agenda for the period 2019-2024. The Strategic Agenda document sets out priority areas that will steer the work of the European Council and provide guidance for the work programmes of other EU institutions.

The priorities of the Croatian Presidency are in line with the Strategic Agenda. The Croatian Presidency will continue to address the EU’s internal and external challenges in a coordinated and integrated manner.
