Accreditations

All journalists and media representatives who wish to attend events organised by the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union must hold a valid media accreditation.

The media in Croatia will be able to cover European Council meetings, the visit of the College of the European Commission, informal ministerial meetings and other meetings at high and top level.

Press accreditation procedure

Before applying for accreditation, please make sure you have the following documents in digital format:

  • a copy of your passport or ID
  • colour photo
  • press card

To make your application, access the accreditation system and enter your personal information. You will also need to upload a photo in digital format and enter the information from your press card. Instead of the press card, you can attach a letter from a media organisation confirming your position as a media representative covering the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Please attach the documents in jpg, doc or pdf formats.

Check the accuracy of the information provided, then submit your application. You will receive a confirmation of receipt at the email address you have provided in the application.

Personal data protection

Please note that the Croatian security authorities will check the accuracy of the information provided. We attach great importance to the protection and security of your personal data.

Your personal data are subject to the provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and the Council of EU of 27 April 2016 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data (GDPR), as well as the provisions of the Croatian Data Protection Act as of 25 May 2018, as amended by the Data Protection Amendment Act.

By using the online accreditation system, you agree that your information can be processed for the purpose described above.

Approval of accreditation applications

Following the security and administrative checks, you will be sent a notice informing you about the approval (or rejection) of your accreditation application. Please print or save the approval notice as you will need it to collect your accreditation pass.

The approval notice will contain login information for the protected space of the Presidency's web site EU2020.hr/login which gives you access to all public material related to each event (full programme, meeting agenda, working documents, etc.).

When registering for an individual event, you do not have to re-enter your personal information - simply indicate in the system which event you would like to attend. The registration system contains a list of all events during the Croatian Presidency of the EU Council for which you can register. Please register at least 14 days before the event you wish to attend.

Accreditation pass

Accreditation passes must be collected in person from:

National and University Library
Ulica Hrvatske bratske zajednice 4, 10000 Zagreb, Croatia
https://goo.gl/maps/43wdFR5KieDryeYs7

Accreditation desk working hours:

  • day before the event from 12:00h - 18:00h at the main entrance
  • on the day of the event from 7:00h - 14:00h at the media entrance

When collecting your accreditation pass, you must bring the originals of the following documents:

  • Identity document (identity card, passport), preferably the one used when submitting the application in the accreditation system
  • Notice of approval of the accreditation request
  • A valid press card or original letter from a media organisation confirming your position as a media representative covering the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

For events that take place outside Zagreb, you can collect an accreditation pass from the media centre at the venue. On the day of the event, you will pass through a security check at which you must show the accreditation pass and a personal identification document.

Accreditation passes are not transferable and must be prominently displayed at all times while you are at the venue. Please report any loss of an accreditation pass immediately to akreditacija2020@mvep.hr.

In exceptional cases, the number of media representatives may be limited. Such situations will be announced in advance on the official website of the Croatian Presidency.

Late (last-minute) accreditations

Late accreditations at the venue will only be possible in exceptional cases. Given that administrative and security processing takes time, late applicants will have to wait (up to several hours) to receive an accreditation pass.

In the event of late accreditation at the venue, the following original documents must be provided:

  • Identity document (identity card or passport)
  • A valid press card or original letter from a media organisation confirming your position as a media representative covering the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.

The organiser reserves the right to refuse late accreditation for administrative and security reasons.
