On 23 April 2020 EU leaders will follow up, by video conference, on the EU's response to the COVID-19 outbreak.

Leaders will continue to work along the following four strands:

• limiting the spread of the virus
• providing medical equipment, with a particular focus on masks and respirators
• promoting research, including research into a vaccine tackling socio-economic consequences
• helping citizens stranded in third countries.

As part of the EU's response, Charles Michel, President of the European Council, together with Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, are working on a Roadmap and Action Plan to ensure the well-being of all Europeans and to bring the EU back to strong, sustainable and inclusive growth, based on a green and digital strategy.
