During the Croatian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a workshop on ESA - Croatia "Space Technologies for the Green Plan and Digital Economy" will be organized on March 5-6, 2020, in Zagreb, at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, University of Zagreb.
The workshop, organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) in collaboration with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb and the Ministry of Science and Education, is designed to discuss the contribution of the space industry and technology to all key goals of the EU Council Presidency. Thus, private and public sector experts from Croatia and beyond will have the opportunity to hear from leading European experts on opportunities under ESA and the EU Space Program for Developing Europe, Connecting Europe, Protecting Europe and Influential Europe. Satellite technologies, especially Earth Observation, have become key to measuring progress against the UN's global goals for sustainable development and the Green Plan as one of the central goals of the President of the European Commission.
Europe's leadership in Earth Observation represents the vast wealth of data available for use in environmental monitoring and security in Europe. Together with the paradigm shift in the field of information technology, especially big data, artificial intelligence and miniature satellites, new opportunities are emerging for the digital economy.
This creates opportunities for new market entrants from all Member States, and in particular SMEs, to develop new innovative services for a sustainable economy without the need for major initial investment.
This workshop will provide an opportunity to meet needs and get acquainted with solutions and will bring together representatives of government and public administration bodies, scientists, companies and experts in the application of satellite data.
