Within Croatia's Presidency to the Council of the European Union, the Ministry of Science and Education will organize a multi-day event which will cover several events related to research infrastructures, which will be held on 17-20 March 2020 in Zagreb.
The conference "European Research Infrastructures for a smarter future" will bring together researchers, managers and other experts on research infrastructures from Europe. At this conference a “White paper on Future of Research Infrastructures in European Research Area“ will be presented. Recognising the demand for European science to effectively support the needed economic, social and environmental transitions, the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI) in its “White Paper on Future Directions of ESFRI” laid out the specific role research infrastructures can and should play.
The overall objective of the conference is to explore the potential of European Research Infrastructures to make a meaningful impact on the European strategic agendas and identify the ways in which this could be achieved. The outcome of this high-level event will provide a new impetus for the European research infrastructure policy, supporting full realisation of the potential of the European Research Area to drive the necessary changes in our economy and society. The conference will provide a platform for discussion and dialogue between policy, research and industry stakeholders on the changes that are necessary to jointly address the big challenges of our times. It will also increase the visibility of opportunities provided by Research Infrastructures and promote partnership between business and academia. The regular 72th meeting of ESFRI Delegates and meetings of the ESFRI Bodies will bring together delegates from the EU and associated countries. The ESFRI has a key role in policymaking on research infrastructures in Europe and their decisions impact some of the biggest investments in large infrastructures in the EU.
The regular e-IRG Delegates' Meeting will bring together representatives of key national bodies responsible for the e-Infrastructure in the Member States and Associated Countries.
The e-Infrastructure Reflection Group (e-IRG) is a strategic body that facilitates integration in the field of European e-Infrastructures and related services, within and between the Member States, at the European level and beyond.
The mission of e-IRG is to support the coherent, innovative and strategic design of the European e-Infrastructure Development Policy and the development of convergent and sustainable e-Infrastructure Services. This meeting is hosted by the University Computing Center of the University of Zagreb - SRCE.
